A Pair of Interesting Experiences

Recently I have been playing some games that have provided me with some interesting experiences.
The first I want to talk about is the Free-to-Play Marvel Heroes game. I first played it months ago as part of an nVidia F2P bundle. At the time I did find it to be fun, but I did eventually stop playing it and uninstall it. However many weeks ago though, I got an email about an event being held in it (I never unsubscribed from its newsletter). That event involved having a double experience buff given to everyone for the weekend, and gave everyone one free, random hero. That got me playing again, and now it has become one of my go-to games for a quick, fun experience. I also have to say that I am really glad I got back in because playing it more has grown my appreciation of it. Despite being a free-to-play game, it does a lot of things right, including that you are always able to go somewhere to do something rewarding. If the difficulty of one challenge becomes too much to handle, there are other challenges you can go to and get more experience and gear from. Also the developers keep holding special events for it, which is very cool as it is a good way to keep the community interested and active. New reasons to get in a play.

The other experience has to do with a game I actually do not want to name. It is not because I cannot name it, but that I think leaving it nameless may be better. It is one game in a franchise I have played through recently, and it is one game that received an amount of hate, when it came out. When I first played it and played it again now, I come to the conclusion that this hate is not deserved. The game is actually quite good and fun. What that hate came from though was that it did not follow in the footsteps of its predecessor. For that reason, it was attacked and something so fun and enjoyable was put down, despite its merits.
It is disappointing whenever that happens. It is sad to think though that the gaming community probably is not going to change in that regard. Maybe some day, but until then, I will just have to keep myself from repeating that as best I can.
