Whenever a significant event occurs, especially a tragedy such as what happened in the early hours of today, there are many images that can and will be used to capture it. The one I choose for today is not of any of the horror that occurred, but the love and caring that occurred after it. The lines of people stretching out from the blood banks around Orlando and the second call, not for more blood donations, but for support for those still waiting, in the Florida heat, for hours, to give blood.
We cannot and should not forget the carnage and the tragedy, but we should not neglect, instead we should celebrate those who did not retreat into safe homes, but went forward to help. That is part of our strength and terrorism and murder will not overcome it.
